This Tuesday, the exhibition “ich krieg dich – children affected by war”, which is hosted by MEP Daniel Caspary in collaboration with World Vision Deutschland e.V. will be inaugurated in the European Parliament. The exhibition illustrates the situation and experiences of children in different conflict areas in the world.
During the inauguration of the exhibition, 1150 prints of Red Hands collected in Germany will be officially handed over from MEP Dr. Dieter-L. Koch to UNICEF Director Philippe Cori. The red hand is a symbol which has been used all over the world by numerous organizations in order to say “NO” to child recruitment as soldiers.
Children and adolescents collect the prints of the red hand in order to protest against the use of underage children as soldiers in conflict zones. They hand them over or send them local, national, european authorities, with the request to advocate the demands for penalization of perpetrators and support of former child soldiers.
